Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 2016 International Tour Includes Performances In The United Kingdom, Switzerland And Denmark September 6 - October 20

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, recognized by U.S. Congress as “a vital American cultural ambassador to the world,” returns to the United Kingdom, Lausanne, Switzerland, and Copenhagen, Denmark to perform a dozen ballets from September 6 – October 30. Robert Battle will lead Ailey through the UK (September 9 – October 19) for the first time since becoming Artistic Director, including the Company’s inaugural visits to Southampton and Canterbury, England.

Ailey Celebrates NYC Dance Week June 16th – 25th with FREE Class Offers at the Ailey Extension, Featuring the June 18th Launch of Brazilian Fitness Technique GingaFlex

Ailey celebrates NYC Dance Week – a citywide festival from June 16th – 25th that promotes the joy and diversity of dance – with FREE class offers at The Ailey Extension and inspiring performances by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at Lincoln Center, through June 19th. The celebration kicks off at the Ailey Studios – home to the incomparable Ailey dancers – on Thursday, June 16th and continues through Saturday, June 25th, with several free classes each day for new students. NYC Dance Week also launches GingaFlex, a brand new fitness technique based on the Brazilian dance/martials arts form capoeira, on Saturday, June 18th at 12pm.

Robert Battle Leads Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in Two-Week Lincoln Center Season June 8th – 19th

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, beloved as one of the world’s most popular dance companies, will return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for a two-week 15-performance engagement at the David H. Koch Theater June 8th – 19th, 2016. Led by Artistic Director Robert Battle, the dancers will perform in a diverse repertory, including the world premieres of Deep, by acclaimed Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti, and Untitled America: Second Movement, the second work in a three-part suite by MacArthur “Genius” Kyle Abraham.

Ailey’s “Ticket to Dance” Welcomes Audiences Into the Studios for Fun & Fitness in Conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Lincoln Center Season June 8-19

The world renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to Lincoln Center from June 8 – 19, and New Yorkers have a unique opportunity to join in the dance. The Ailey Extension announces the return of “Ticket to Dance,” which allows audience members to try their first class FREE with a performance ticket (returning students receive a free class with the purchase of a 10-class card).

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s two-week spring engagement at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater kicks off on Wednesday, June 8th with The Ailey Spirit Gala, a one-night-only benefit performance and party. The Ailey Spirit Gala benefit performance at 7pm includes the world-renowned Ailey dancers in excerpts of Alvin Ailey’s Cry and Robert Battle’s Awakening.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, beloved as one of the world’s most popular dance companies, will share its inspiring artistry with audiences during a 20-city North American tour starting tonight at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The tour will take the Company to major cities including Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, and will culminate at the Prudential Hall of the New Jersey Performing in Newark on May 8th.

This innovative curriculum-based initiative for public school students utilizes Alvin Ailey’s signature masterpiece Revelations as the inspirational framework for an in-depth study of language arts, social studies and dance.
